Qualified Tour Guides seminar and Tour Guide Certificate examination

Training

The qualified tour guide is the product core of bus and group tourism. The tour guide - as a representative of a tour operator - is in direct contact with the customer, accompanies and supports the group, organises the trip and is the first point of contact in case of problems. He is the link between the destination, the tour operator and the traveller.

The seminar "Qualified Tour Guide" on 08. and 09.02.2020 in Bremen is aimed at experienced tour guides who want to refresh and expand their knowledge. The seminar offers career changers and interested parties a complex overview of the requirements in the field of tour guiding as well as practical knowledge.

Following the seminar, the examination for the tour guide certificate of the Federal Association of the German Tourism Industry and the Bremen University of Applied Sciences will take place in Bremen on 10 and 11 February 2020. This practice-oriented qualification certificate certifies tour guides tested knowledge in the field of sightseeing, art, culture, history, geography and politics. In addition, competence in organisation, tourism studies, law and methodology/didactics.

In Germany there is neither a recognised job description nor corresponding requirements for the entry into the profession of tour guide. As a voluntary proof of qualification, the tour guide certificate was created in 1990 - since 2001 in cooperation with the University of Applied Sciences Bremen.

The prerequisite for obtaining the certificate together with the tour guide licence is a passed two-day written and oral examination. Both practicing tour guides and students of the International Bachelor's/Master's Degree Programme "Applied Leisure Science" are admitted.
