Germany tourism is still on the rise. In July, hotels and guesthouses counted 58.8 million overnight stays.

That was 4.5 percent more than in the same month last year, as the German Federal Statistical Office based in Wiesbaden reports. Visitors from abroad witnessed an increase of 3.6 per cent to 11.1 million, while the number of overnight stays by domestic travellers increased by 4.7 per cent year-on-year to 47.7 million.

In the seven months from January through July 2019, the number of overnight stays was 3.9 per cent up on the same period of the previous year at 281.1 million. The Wiesbaden statisticians consider accommodation establishments with at least ten beds.

The tourism industry benefits from the fact that travel to Germany is trending, 2018 being the ninth record year in succession.

In 2018, 478 million overnight stays were recorded, valued at EURO 93 billion in accommodation and food services. Leading incoming markets – especially for coach and group series travel – include the USA, the UK, the Netherlands and China.
