Condolences were expressed by RDA-President Benedikt Esser for the deceased and sympathy for the survivors and relatives of all involved in the tragic accident involving a German coach holiday group on the day prior to the opening of this year’s two-day RDA Group Travel Expo on 4th and 5th July 2017 in Cologne.

A positive business atmosphere was felt at this year’s two-day exhibition – the largest European trade-only, sales and purchasing exhibition for the coach and group tourism sectors with about 630 exhibitors from over 40 countries and trade visitors and young professionals attending from thousands of coach and group operator companies.

The overwhelming response to-date from exhibitors and visitors alike to proceedings in the spacious and bright halls 6 and 9 has been encouraging with face-to-face networking and personal contacts now considered more important than ever before.

A new online appointment and networking tool was successfully introduced prior to the exhibition and will be employed at both exhibitions in 2018. RDA-President, Benedikt Esser, stated that the RDA Group Travel Expo is developing in many exciting directions and could indeed be considered as a “start-up” in terms of dynamism and B2B innovation potential.

The quintessence of the RDA is bringing members together through business networking and social events such as the successful joint evening event of RDA and VPR in the historic and beautifully restored FLORA at the Cologne Botanical Gardens attended by about 1,000 colleagues.

Meetings were held at Cologne Trade Fair by the European Alliance for Coach Tourism – EACT (with representatives from CPT (UK), CTTCI (Ireland) and ETOA attending) and the Global Passenger Network (an alliance of large coach operators from some 30 countries worldwide). Press and association delegations from many European countries also attended.

Next year’s RDA Group Travel Expos will take place on 10th and 11th April 2018 in Friedrichshafen and on 3rd and 4th July 2018 in Cologne where the trend topic will be “Magic Nature”.
