The 35th Day of Coach Tourism start-of-year get-together and conference will take place on Monday, 9th January 2017 in the GOP Varieté-Theater Bremen, with an informal B2B networking get-together on the evening of Sunday, 8th January 2017 in the Bremer Überseestadt ( The theme of this ever popular and informative event is “Upheaval in the coach tourism market – Challenges & Opportunities”. Event hosts are Bremen, Bremerhaven and the GOP Varieté-Theater Bremen.

Controversial industry issues and themes will be discussed including:

  • BREXIT – what are the eventual consequences for the coach tourism sector and for EU tourism politics?
  • New, exotic destinations require differential risk analysis and crisis management
  • How can market shares be maintained?
  • Deregulation of long-distance public bus transport: will price be a decisive argument for the choice holiday transport mode once again?
  • Long-distance buses: alternatives for city tourism, rented buses and association excursions?
  • Will school classes, youth and senior tourism operators, clubs & associations use long-distance bus portals in future?
  • Splitting of traditional package coach holidays into separate components: transport - accommodation – event tickets?
  • - the portal for coach holidays and non-scheduled transport?
  • Reduction of barriers to competition: a disadvantage for conventional businesses, an advantage for fast movers?
  • Discontinued family business model: will corporate groups, venture capitalists, administrative barriers and tendering replace medium-sized coach operators?
