38th Day of Coach Tourism on 18th November 2019: Climate Protection – Pole Position for Coach Travel

The 38th Day of Coach Tourism will take place from 10.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. on Monday, 18th November 2019 in the award-winning State Textile and Industry Museum Augsburg (tim) with an informal networking get-together for RDA members and friends on the evening of Sunday, 17th November 2019 in the Augsburger Puppenkiste hosted by Regio Augsburg Tourismus GmbH.

This year’s theme is Climate Protection – Pole Position for Coach Travel – with stimulating contributions expected from leading industry experts and scientists – focusing upon the role of coach travel in climate protection, ecological potential and customer appeal, best practices from around the world and practical recommendations.

Research has established that environmental concerns have traditionally not been high on coach holidaymakers’ list of priorities, but that they could, however, become quickly so as a new generation of potential coach and ‚Fridays for Future‘ holidaymakers emerges.

Coach travel comes out as the most carbon efficient mode of travel when compared to air or rail. All things being equal, modern state-of-the-art coach transport is as green as it gets – that is, other than cycling or hiking.

Day of Coach Tourism initiator and organiser, Dieter Gauf, has been promoting this message for well over a decade now. Coach holiday travel can help reduce the tourism carbon footprint by offering customers new and environmentally friendly forms of coach transport along with immersive and eco-friendly holiday experiences.

Participation in the 38th Day of Coach Tourism is free-of-charge and open to trade members only.

Mr. Götz Beck, Tourism Director of Regio Augsburg Tourismus GmbH, looks forward to welcoming participants to his beautiful walkabout city which has recently been granted UNESCO World Heritage status for its historic Water Management System.

Your input and ideas are very much appreciated and are most welcome in advance of the event. So please contact Dieter Gauf, if you would like to make a contribution.
