39th Day of Coach Tourism on 11th January 2021 in Duisburg

On 11th January 2021, the coach and group tourism industry sends a clear signal that tourism will continue despite the Corona crisis.

How and with what offers the industry and its partners will operate in the market in the future will be examined by the 39th "Day of Coach Tourism". Experts, industry insiders, coach operators and group tour operators will face the current situation and develop solutions. The conference format "Topics - Theses - Interjections" promises an exciting discussion. Duisburg, with the world's largest inland port in the Ruhr metropolis, will host the conference for the first time and also provide best practice examples of how the local tourism industry is mastering the crisis.

RDA President Benedikt Esser, patron of the traditional event, will officially open the industry's annual kick-off event. In his speech, he will address the current situation of coach tourism. He will also give an overview of the most important industry concerns and projects of the RDA Internationaler Bus Touristik Verband e.V. and the RDA Group Travel Expos, the leading tourism trade fair for coach an group tourism.

Duisburg not only wants to host the platform, but also to present itself to the leading representatives of the coach tourism industry as an attractive travel destination. "With its diverse industrial culture, Europe's largest inland port and many local recreation areas on the waterfront, Duisburg is an ideal destination for coach travel. With this special offer we would like to actively promote Duisburg as a coach tourism destination to the participants of the renowned industry forum", says Uwe Kluge, Managing Director of Duisburg Kontor.

The day before, a touristic programme awaits the participants, which ends with the get-together in the Landschaftspark Duisburg. This event is always appreciated by the participants of the " Day of Coach Tourism" especially because of the networking.

With around 100 million passengers from trips, excursions, occasional services and incoming travel, coach tourism had made a significant contribution to tourism in Germany. More than 4 million coach holidays and even more short and city breaks are important pillars of the tourism industry both in Germany and abroad. The industry has generated more than 10 billion euros in turnover for the national economy and has fulfilled important socio-political functions, especially with club holidays. The existence of the predominantly medium-sized family businesses is considerably endangered by the Corona crisis.

"It is important that we look to the future in these times and that we are shown perspectives for the severely battered industry," says Kai U. Homann, head of the tourism division at Duisburg Kontor. The "Day of Coach Tourism" wants to contribute to overcoming the crisis and develop scenarios and innovations on how the industry projects its market position into the future.

Dieter Gauf, organiser of the " Day of Coach Tourism": "We want to set a strong signal for coach tourism in Duisburg. The popular date as a kick-off into the tourism year follows on from the successful conferences in the Metropole Ruhr. Face-to-face, just as the industry needs it".

The location of the 39th " Day of Coach Tourism" on 11th January 2021 is the Mercatorhalle in Duisburg. Mrs. Armagan Doll of Duisburg Kontor GmbH is developing an exciting supporting programme together with the tourism partners.

The complete programme with the experts, questions and conference contents will be announced shortly.

The participation is free of charge for professionals.

A hygiene concept will ensure a risk-free participation.
