The 35th Day of Coach Tourism start-of-year get-together and conference will take place on Monday, 9th January 2017 in the GOP Varieté-Theater Bremen, with an informal B2B networking get-together on the evening of Sunday, 8th January 2017 in the Bremer Überseestadt (http://www.bremen-tourism.de/virtual-tour-of-ueberseestadt). The theme of this ever popular and informative event is “Upheaval in the coach tourism market – Challenges & Opportunities”. Event hosts are Bremen, Bremerhaven and the GOP Varieté-Theater Bremen. The line-up of expert speakers and contributors is as follows:

RDA President Richard Eberhardt will open this year’s Day of Coach Tourism, outlining how the RDA offers apt advice, targeted solutions and effective B2B platforms for its members in times of crisis, uncertainty and transformation.

Peter Siemering, Managing Director Bremen Tourist Office and Vice-President of the DTV German Tourism Association, will officially welcome participants to Bremen and Bremerhaven – a city that offers coach tourism operators and guests lots of attractive offers and many wonderful visitor attractions.

DRV German Travel Association President Norbert Fiebig will speak in his key-note statement about the effects of crises and changed political, legal and fiscal conditions on the tourism sector as a whole.

Fabian Stenger, Managing Director, Flixbus Dach GmbH will open the sequence of expert statements. He will portray how Flixbus moved from start-up to inter-city coach transport market leader and their experience in the coach rental business.

Marc Fleischhauer, Managing Director, Deutsche Post Mobility GmbH, explains the diversification of companies in niche markets with special focus upon differing strategic approaches.

Klaus Eikmeier, Chairperson Reisenetz e.V. German Confederation for Youth Travel, illustrates how clubs and special tour operators react to changing competition and framework conditions.

Prof. Dr. Harald Bartl, popular, controversial and humorous Day of Coach Tourism contributor, will explore the legal implications and costs of the EU Package Travel Guideline.

RDA Vice-President Benedikt Esser poses a provoking question: Are family-run coach tourism operations an obsolescent business model? It is time for a wake-up call and for releasing new energies.

Johannes Hübner, Manager RDA RBI Crisis Management Krisenmanagement, will moderate a concluding podium discussion, which is open to comments and questions from the floor.

Participation at the 35th Day of Coach Tourism 2017 is free and open to trade members only.

Your considered input and own ideas are most appreciated and are very welcome in advance of the event. So please contact RDA CEO Dieter Gauf if you would like to make such a contribution (dieter.gauf @gauf-germany .de).
